Miss O isn't doing very well, sadly. she's in congestive heart failure, and while the vet said she could depart this world anytime (they weren't sure she'd make it through the week, and that was 2 1/2 weeks ago), she's hanging in and seems relatively comfy, despite the fact that there is literally so much fluid surrounding her heart that her heart can't be seen on an x-ray. my poor old Miss. we've changed her diet a bit to include a frequent little sampling of moist food (to help with her digestion), which she has NEVER eaten in all her 16 years. and yogurt. the girl loves her yogurt, lemme tell ya! we try to give her a little bit of the plain stuff (maybe a teaspoonful) each day. mostly i want her to be comfortable, and i'm trying to keep the environment stress-free for her, but we have to take her to the local vet tomorrow to get her nails trimmed. crossing my fingers that the excursion goes well, as she doesn't like to travel, plus having never been to this vet, i'm afraid she won't like them. we shall see. (by the way, we still don't have the deets about her appearing on the Jones soda labels, but if anyone sees them, PLEASE grab some bottles and i will pay you for them - shipping and all!)
the cardmaking is still quite an obsession - i am preparing for yet another craft fair (this one's a craft fair/roller derby - ROCK!) at the end of March, and it should prove to be a good bit of fun. the vendors all do a funky little quirky thing - each booth will be very different from the next, and i'm THRILLED to be a part of it! i would love to make a profit, but i'm happy to get some product turnover and break even and get the word out. i've had some custom orders, and i feel like i've learned so much from my crafty internet friends, so i hope 2011 is a busy year for me!
i have a blogging friend who is putting together a book and has asked if i'd like to contribute one of my papercrafty projects - how cool is that?! i was a featured artist on her blog a few months back (she works directly with a manufacturer, promoting their products and looking for people who use them in fun, innovative ways), and it was a lot of fun playing with the stuff, so i hope i can come up with a great idea for the book. it would LIKELY be carried in Barnes & Noble stores around the country! i could be a published ARTIST! (exhibiting and winning 3rd place in a local art show isn't good enough, ya know?)
work is still too good to be true, i swear. i can't say enough wonderful things about my job - it's AMAZING. i've gotten a raise, i've been given some additional responsibilities and authority, and i seem to be in good standing with the powers that be, so my manager and assistant manager are really pushing for me to be promoted (the sooner, the better, as it benefits them greatly, too!). oh, and i seem to get my picture taken for every little thing, which i find terribly amusing. my mug has been on our external and internal websites for over a month, and i'm plastered all over the big screens throughout the building - ANNNNND i could be appearing on some of our marketing material in the near future. SILLY! anywho, i go to work happy every single day, i'm very seldom STRESSED about my job, i feel confident and empowered, and i know how fortunate i am to have landed a gig so ridiculously wonderful, so i'm going to do everything i can to show them they made the right choice in hiring me.
so Valentine's Day is almost over - i'm tired (working the early shift this week after a few weeks of closing, so i have to adjust to my new schedule) and i'm anxious to snuggle up with my dear husband, so i shall be on my merry way... hope you're all doing well (and for those going through some difficult times, i hope you're hanging in there and being the strong, amazing people i know you to be), and happy birthday, Shawn!
'night, friends. xo
p.s. - for anyone reading, i'm thinking of getting myself a netbook (rather than a full-fledged laptop), and was wondering if you might recommend some brands or models. i am wi-fi ignorant and i'm looking for something very user-friendly, as well as small and uber-portable. thoughts?
Your result for The Nerd? Geek? or Dork? Test...
Modern, Cool Nerd
61 % Nerd, 57% Geek, 35% Dork
For The Record:
A Nerd is someone who is passionate about learning/being smart/academia.
A Geek is someone who is passionate about some particular area or subject, often an obscure or difficult one.
A Dork is someone who has difficulty with common social expectations/interactions.
You scored better than half in Nerd and Geek, earning you the title of: Modern, Cool Nerd
Nerds didn't use to be cool, but in the 90's that all changed. It used to be that, if you were a computer expert, you had to wear plaid or a pocket protector or suspenders or something that announced to the world that you couldn't quite fit in. Not anymore. Now, the intelligent and geeky have eked out for themselves a modicum of respect at the very least, and "geek is chic." The Modern, Cool Nerd is intelligent, knowledgable and always the person to call in a crisis (needing computer advice/an arcane bit of trivia knowledge). They are the one you want as your lifeline in Who Wants to Be a Millionaire (or the one up there, winning the million bucks)!
